The patented technology of clean indoor air with plants in the cabinet is now experiencing rapid growth in Qatar and other Gulf states.

The technology is well proven and scientific tests show that the system is very effective at reducing chemicals, sand, dust, while converting carbon dioxide to oxygen in the premises where the Live Filters installed.

The first facility is now installed in Qatar at the factory DVAC and will soon further installations to be carried out at its premises.

EITEC International is responsible for the product in the Gulf States and the rest of the world and the company sees great potential especially in countries where sand dust causes problems in indoor air, which contributes to increased pulmonary illnesses.

The plants that purify the air inside at Midlanda Airport will be exported to Turkey. Or rather, the technology behind the method will.
- There is a great need in that area, says Olle Bergseije at the company Levande Filter (which means “Live Filters”), which has a patent on the method.

At the beginning of the week two representatives from a Turkish company were on location in Sundsvall / Timrå to meet Olle Bergseije, and Rolf Tannergård and Tomas Lindsbro from the company Eitec International. Eitec and the Turkish company will form a joint sales and distribution company in Ankara.

– They become agents of Levande Filter and they will also work towards countries like Georgia, Azerbaijan, United Arab Emirates and Qatar. We have done a market analysis and it looks promising. There is a need, just think of all the exhaust gases and dust, and only in Istanbul there live 14 million inhabitants, says Olle Bergseije.

Mustafa Percincek and Ersin Ince also wanted to see the large living filter at Midlanda, one 45 meters long mini rainforest linked to a large ventilation system in the room behind. The air in the departure / arrival hall is drawn in towards the rainforest, dust and particles stick to the leaves of the plants and are later washed down to earth. At the same time, plants, with support from the sun, help to transform carbon dioxide into oxygen.

– We’ve seen it on video and got a description of how it works, but of course it is enjoyable to see the facility firsthand, said Mustafa Percincek.

– I have one, much smaller facility, at home in the villa and has got rid of my allergy, says Rolf Tannergård who owns Eitec.

Olle Bergseije says that the patented solution comes from NASA in the U.S., but it was developed by Professor Lars Thofelt in Östersund, Sweden. At Midlanda it has been around since 1999.

– At an airport there are also a lot of chemicals used linked to deicing. So live filters has a lot of potential, today there are facilities at a variety of companies

Independent measurements have been performed in Peab Asphalt Lab in Birsta outside Sundsvall.
The tests have been carried out by ÅF in normal working conditions and the results were astounding.
A full 50% of quartz dust and Demitylklorid reduced after the installation of Living Filter. Peab Quality and Environmental Coordinator John Lofgren received the result with joy and happily notes that the Living Filter are really effective even in extreme environments such as our lab environment.

Environmental innovation company levande filter, with its patented ventilation system, has received its first order with a partner in Korea. It began when Korean TV visited Sweden, and Västernorrland in Nov 2010, for a documentary about Swedish environmental technology where living filters were one of the companies visited. Living filters and several companies have been frequently approached by Korean stakeholders after the documentary and more business are waiting for Swedish environmental technology companies, since Korea is the country that invests most in green solutions – clean tech in the world.
- Swedish environmental technology is in demand and is considered a leader in many areas such as sustainable and energy efficient construction. The biggest challenge we face is coming population increase by 2050, nearly 4 billion more, that means nearly 300-350 thousand every day who need to live, eat, consume. Houses and buildings consume about 40% of our energy solutions and here the focus forward and smart ventilation solutions as living filters have a great potential, says Lars Ling, CleanTech Region who assisted and coached Living filters with the deal.
